It's a Girl!!!!!!

We finally had our ultrasound on Friday. Despite all the old wives tales telling us we were having a boy, there's a little girl in there. It was exciting to see her moving around on the screen even though it looked like she was picking her nose. We have talked about a few names and have decided not tell anyone yet so that if she doesn't look like what we've picked, we can change it without too much confusion. The little angel now has a "face". That's pretty much all for now.

We got a WILD ONE!!!!

We had another appt yesterday. As we listened to the heartbeat, the Dr was trying to count bpm, little baby decided he/she didn't like that and kept kicking the doplar probe. We didn't get a good count, but we're guessing around 140 bpm. We scheduled our ultrasound Fri. Dec. 26 (finally, Andy is getting impatient) where we will hopefully find out what color to paint the baby's room. Andy can feel the baby kick occasionally and I can feel some movement too.

Its a boy!

Well, we don't really know the sex yet, but according to old wives tales, with the heart beat being 144 (slower heart beat), its supposed to be a boy. We had another appointment today and got to hear the heart beat. I wish I could hear it everyday, its such a wonderful sound. I have started having a few 'flutters' of movement. The doctor measured my fundus (the top of my uterus) and it is measuring 2 finger breadths below my belly button. The second trimester is going good so far, no more morning sickness and I am not near as tired. We will have another appointment in 4 weeks and we will schedule our ultrasound at that time. Hopefully with the ultrasound the baby will play along and let us see if its a boy or girl.

This is Andy. I know everyone is probably wondering how I am doing so far in the pregnancy soI just thought I'd let everyone know that I feel just fine. I haven't had any morning sickness, fatigue, or sore boobs. The fatigue I can handle, but first signs of the other two and I'll probably be at the doctor. Anyway, I hope everyone likes the relevant information on the blog. Later.

First Prenatal Visit

Finally! Today I had my first prenatal visit. When Andy and I got to the clinic at 8:45, we found out that my doctor had to rush to the hospital for an emergency c-section, so we had to reschedule our appointment. Luckily the doctor was able to get me in at 11:30. However, Andy had a big meeting for work from 11 to 1, so he was unable to go with me :( I was able to hear the heart beat, which was very exciting. I took a digital recorder with me to record the heart beat for Andy. The recording isn't the best, but its better than nothing. I am still having some "morning sickness", but for the most part, I am feeling pretty good. As of Sunday, I am 12 weeks, 28 more to go! I am now to the point that I will be seeing the doctor once a month, so there will be more updates to come!

Just an update

Nothing really new to report at this time. Things have been going good. No more scares, thank God. I go for my first prenatal visit on Monday. We will be able to hear the heart beat with the doppler, which will be pretty exciting. Hopefully we will have more to update on Monday.

My hCG levels

After another little scare yesterday, I went to see the doctor. They did a blood draw to compare hCG level to the first one. It was definitely good news to find out that my first level taken on 9-19 was 37,182 and my second level taken yesterday, 10-7 was 146,194. So as the nurse said on the phone, "you are very pregnant!"

Update on my pregnancy

I haven't written for awhile. Things are going pretty good, I have had some nausea, but most of all I am very tired. We are about 8.5 weeks pregnant, it will be 9 weeks on Sunday. We had some exciting news yesterday. Andy's sister, Haley and her husband Tom are in town for the weekend. We went over to Mason and Jenny's last night to see them. They shared with us that our baby is going to have a cousin. Haley is due 11 days after me (5-21-09)! They found out about 4 days after we did, but wanted to wait to tell us in person.

First Ultrasound

We had our first ultrasound today. It was unscheduled, but after a little scare, our doctor ordered one. During the ultrasound, we got to hear the heart beat, 125 beats per minute. Hearing the heart beat was the most amazing thing every. The baby looked like a jellybean. We did not get any pictures from this ultrasound, so we will have to get some from the next one. During the ultrasound, the tech measured the gestational sack and from their calculations, the due date is May 10, 2009, the day after I graduate from nursing school!

Telling our families the big news

Andy and I decided to call our sisters first, so while I was on the phone with my sister, he was calling his. I told my sister that I had taken a test that morning.......and it was positive. She was so excited. She was screaming and jumping up and down with my niece Hailey. As Andy was telling Haley, I could hear her screaming! Next I called my parents and told them they were going to be grandparents again, they too were very excited. My mom informed me that she loves being a grandma. Next we had to decide how to tell Andy's dad and Jenny. They were over at some friends house for the Husker game and we weren't quite ready to tell a lot of people, so we had to come up with another way. We went over to their house when they weren't home and took paper and wrote out Grandpa Mason with each letter on a separate piece of paper and wrote it was a game, they had to find all the letters to figure out the clue. So a few hours later we got a call from them. They were trying to figure it out. We finally had to tell them that there were two words and the first word started with a G. After about 5-10 minutes, they figured it out. They were both very excited.

We are pregnant

Early this morning, 6:30 to be exact, I was awaken by the call of mother nature to use the bathroom. I got up, went to the bathroom and decided to take a pregnancy test because I knew by tomorrow I would be "late". So I took the test and to my surprise, it was positive. Being very excited I ran into the bedroom, woke up Andy and told him to turn on the light. He was taking too long so I turned it on for him and handed him the test stick. He looked at it half awake and said what is this. I told him to put on his glasses and look again. He did and realized what it was. He looked at me and said is this real? I said yes! We were so excited, I couldn't fall back asleep. I could not wait to share our news.
