Macy's Here!!!!

Macy is finally here. I say finally because we were admitted to the hospital Sunday at 7pm to do some pre-labor stuff. They started the induction at 5am Monday morning with Laura at 1 cm and 50% effaced. This whole induction thing was brought about because Laura had some blood pressure issues earlier in the week at her appointment. The hours came and went with contractions increasing in frequency but nothing really happening with the cervix. Yesterday ended up being just more time for Macy to kick Laura in the ribs. Laura had dialated to about 3 be the end of the night. At around 4:30 this morning, Dr. Payson checked Laura and discovered that we had progressed all of maybe 1 cm and was beginning to think that a c section was going to be the way to go. She decided to wait a little longer and check at around 7. Laura was all of 4cm and 70% effaced. The paperwork came through for the c section just in case one was ordered to hopefully jinx the whole c section thing. She was progressing just enough that the Dr wanted to keep things moving on their own. She was a tight 6cm around 8:30,but was 85 to 90% faced, just enough to keep her out of the "room". Our nurse checked at 10 and found out Laura was now at 10 cm and fully effaced or complete. She started pushing around 10:20 and Macy was born at 11:01am, May 12, 2009. 7 lbs 12 oz, 20 1/2 inches and a very healthy set of lungs. Mom and baby both happy and healthy. More pictures are up on Facebook. If you can't see them there, get a hold of Laura or I and we'll send some by email.

39 weeks appointment

No baby yet. We had an appointment today, Macy's heart was beating at 150 beats per minute. My blood pressure was a little high so the doctor had me do a UA to check for protein and rechecked my blood pressure. No protein in my urine but my blood pressure was still a little high. I am still measuring a week ahead, but I am still 50% effaced and 1 cm. She stripped my membranes to try to help things along. Since my blood pressure was a little high she went ahead and scheduled my induction. I will check into the hospital Sunday night and they will start Pitocin on Monday morning. Unless nature kicks in before Monday, we will have this little one either Monday or Tuesday! We will keep you updated as things move along.

Finally some belly pics

Here are some comparison pictures. The first was taken at 18 weeks. As you can see, the next one taken at 38 1/2 is a little different. All our bags are packed, we're ready to go whenever she is.

38 weeks Appointment

I had another appointment today. Not much new to report. I am measuring at 39 weeks, Macy's heart is beating at 144 beats per minute and I am still 50% effaced and 1 centimeter dilated. I have to work this weekend, so maybe all the walking and being on my feet will send me into labor! Andy has been sick with a very bad case of Strep Throat, so hopefully he will start feeling better soon in case I do go into labor early. I take my last test for school tomorrow, so after that, she can come whenever she wants. I am very thankful for my teacher letting me take my last test a week early, so now I won't have that to stress over. We'll just have to wait and see if I make it to graduation or not. Well I have another appointment next week, but we will keep you updated if there are any changes or a birth before then!

37 weeks appointment

We had another appointment today! These weekly appointments are making the time go by a lot faster. I am still measuring a week ahead (38 weeks) but that is nothing new, as I have been measuring one to one and one half weeks ahead the whole time. Macy's heart was beating at 150 beats per minute. She is still head down, which is a very good thing. I am 50% effaced and still one centimeter dilated.
We had our child birthing class this past Saturday (April 18th). It was a good class to go to, a lot of review for me but good information for Andy. The class didn't freak him out, so I still have a labor coach! I will be done with all my tests for school next Wednesday, April 29th. So if she can hold on until then would be the best, but as we all know, you can't predict or mess with nature. I have another appointment next week.

36 weeks Appointment

We had another appointment today, we are now seeing the doctor every week! We're getting closer. My Group B Strep came back negative! No antibiotics for me before delivery. Macy was very active during the appointment today and kicked the doppler probe as we were trying to listen to her heart beat which was beating away at 144 beats per minute. She is still head down. The doctor checked me and I am 1 cm dilated and my cervix is softening. This little girl could come any time now. Hopefully she waits a few more weeks so I can get done with my tests for school. We have our child birthing class on Saturday. Things are moving along and I'm not too uncomfortable yet.

Another appointment

We had another appointment today. Macy's heart is beating along nicely at 150 beats per minute and she is moving around a lot. You can see her move across my stomach. At the appointment today, they tested me for Group B Strep so we will get the results next week. The doctor checked me and I am a finger tip dilated. I haven't had any real contractions yet, just Braxton Hicks. We got a good report from our ultrasound from our last appointment. The placenta moved up with the uterus growing, so no more low lying placenta. She is also measuring in the 77th percentile and the ultrasound tech made the comment that she has long legs.

Everything is ready at home for her, now we just wait. We are very excited and cannot wait to meet this little girl! About 4 1/2 weeks left!

Not much to report

We had another appointment yesterday. Things are still going good. I'm still measuring a week and a half a head. When the doctor was listening to her heart beat with the dopplar, Macy gave us a good kick. We also had another ultrasound but unfortunately we don't have any pictures to share. They were mainly checking the placement of my placenta since it was low lying on my 20 week ultrasound. According to the ultrasound, she is measuring a week a head and it says my due date is May 4. The ultrasound tech said she has long legs according to their measurements. She tried to do a 3-D so we could see her face, but Macy wasn't playing along. She was face down and wouldn't let us get a peek. We will have to wait to see her precious face when she is born. Her heart is still beating along at about 140 beats per minute. I will have another appointment in 2 weeks and they will test me for Group B Strep at that appointment. Only about 6 1/2 weeks left!

Macy's Room

Here are some pictures of Macy's room. As you can see, the theme is ladybugs. Andy did a wonderful job painting even though he said he never thought he'd have so much fun painting a room pink! Not much longer now, only 7 weeks to go. It's going by so fast, before long she'll get to see her room. She has the hiccups right now as I am typing this! We have a doctors appointment and an ultrasound this week so there will be more pictures and news to share.

The name is out...

So last Saturday my sister and aunt had a shower in Omaha for me. Andy and I had gone up on Friday after work. We went out to eat that night with my mom and we were talking about our baby, naturally. My mom said that it would be okay if we told her the name, that she could keep a secret and that she is good at keeping secrets. I told her it was up to Andy since I've been wanting to tell the name since we picked it. Andy said he didn't care, so we told her it was similar to her name (Marcy) and Andy's dad's name (Mason). I told her to take the r out of her name and she said with a big smile, its Mary? I said no, take the r out of your name and then told her it was Macy. So then Saturday at the shower, Jenny, Andy's dad's wife some how found out that my mom knew the name. Jenny has been trying to get us to tell her the name for some time now and we hadn't given in (I guess she's not as manipulative as my mom!). So I told her she had to ask Andy. And once again, Andy being the nice guy he is said he didn't care if I told. So I told everyone at the table the first letter and right away my sister guessed the name right. So now the name is out. We are naming our little angel Macy. Her middle name is going to be for Andy's mom, Judy, but we're just using the first letter and spelling it Jai.

Still doing good

We had another appointment today and everything is going good. Her heart is beating at 156 beats/minute and I am measuring at 32 weeks even though I'm only 30.5 weeks. She continues to move around like crazy and is still head down for now, and hopefully she stays that way. I will have another ultrasound on March 24 to check the placement of my placenta and will have another appointment at that time.

Andy got the nursery painted, the crib is set up and bedding on. We have a glider/rocker so all we have left to get for furniture is a dresser. We plan to look for one next weekend when we are in Omaha for my baby shower. We'll have to take pictures of the nursery and get them posted on here for all to see.

Baby's room

This is the bedding in her room. We are going to paint the top of the walls pink and the bottom light green and put a chair rail separating the colors. We don't have all the items shown in the picture but enough to make it look cute!

Doing good!

We had another appointment today. I had my glucose tolerance test and passed, so no gestational diabetes! My uterus is measuring exactly where it should be. Our doctor was feeling around on my stomach and said that her head was down, so we don't have a butt head as Andy calls it (Andy's parents called him butt head jokingly because he was breach and the doctor said there's his head and it was his butt). The doctor was able to find the heart beat with no troubles, as she is getting bigger and can't swim away from the doppler anymore. Her heart was beating at 144 beats per minute. We also scheduled my next Ultrasound for March 24th so we can look at the placement of my placenta since it was low lying from the 20 week Ultrasound. She continues to be active with kicking, moving around and getting hiccups occasionally. I love being able to feel her moving around and Andy likes to push on her and make her change positions. We scheduled our child birthing class and breastfeeding class, both in April. We will start seeing the doctor every two weeks now instead of every 4 weeks.

We got the crib put together and the bedding put on. Andy is hoping to paint this weekend. I am having my first baby shower tomorrow in Lincoln with my friends from high school. I will have another one March 14th that my sister and aunt are having for me with family and friends. We are getting closer and closer each day and can't wait to meet our little girl.

Just an update on our growing pumpkin!

I had another appointment yesterday. She continues to grow and get more active. I am measuring at 24.5 weeks, so I am right on schedule. When the doctor was trying to listen to her heart beat with the doppler, she only let us listen for a few seconds before she kicked the probe. Her heart is beating at 140 beats per minute. The doctor said that from my ultrasound at 20 weeks, the placenta is sitting low, its not placenta previa (where the placenta is over the cervical opening), but she wants to do another ultrasound at 32 weeks to make sure. I will have another appointment in 4 weeks and do my glucose testing. I will then start to see the doctor every two weeks.

In the last few weeks, she has become very active. She likes to kick and do summersaults. She has also had the hiccups a few times. Andy has been able to feel her kicking on a daily basis now. The first time he felt her kick was about 2-3 weeks ago. It is pretty amazing being able to feel her moving around inside.
